The days of protecting Joe Biden seem to be gone by key government officials at the border.
Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz dropped a bombshell.
This is something that could hurt both Biden and Mayorkas.
No Control
Ortiz was the star witness for Republicans when they took their show on the road.
During a previous hearing, Mayorkas confirmed to Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) that DHS had operational control of the border.
Roy asked him twice, even read the definition to him, to make sure he had Mayorkas on the record.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Ortiz told a different story.
Chair Mark Green asked Ortiz, “Does DHS have operational control of our entire border.”
Ortiz immediately responded, “No sir.”
Green then played the testimony of Mayorkas from the previous hearing before asking Ortiz if Mayorkas was lying.
Ortiz tried to cover for Mayorkas, but Green cut him off and asked for an answer to the question.
Green stated, “You heard the secretary, he said we have operational control,” he said, before pointing to the definition. “That’s the definition.”
Ortiz responded, “Based upon the definition you have sir, up there, no.”
Green clarified, “We don’t have operational control?”
Ortiz confirmed, “No sir.”
So, let’s just add that to the impeachment stack for Mayorkas… lying under oath.
