Mayor Lori Lightfoot needed only 90 minutes to notch the first death of the 2023 year.
In all, the holiday weekend had a total of 30 shootings, seven of them being fatal.

The mayhem started that Friday night going into Saturday morning, with a dozen shootings.
One of the victims, an elderly man was doing nothing but standing on the sidewalk when a car unloaded on him, killing him.
Another shooting wound up with a teenager being killed.
In that incident, another car rolled up and opened fire, killing the teenager behind the wheel.
The heartbreaking story of the weekend was a 9-year-old child being shot to death.
The child was reportedly in the house when someone opened fire, penetrating the walls and killing the child.
Lightfoot is in an election year, and she is in big trouble.
Because Chicago runs an open election, she can be defeated by a fellow Democrat, and they are lined up against her right now.
