A rookie NYPD officer is recovering in the hospital after a brutal attack.
Officers were responding to a call for a disturbance on a bus.
The call resulted in a foot chase, with the rookie officer getting shot in the hip.

The NYPD has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
According to police, the two officers, both rookies, responded to the call.
When they entered the bus, the suspect pushed past them and escaped on foot.
The officers went in pursuit with one of the officers getting into a struggle with the suspect.
A shot was fired, hitting the officer in the hip.
The other officer returned fire, but it was not clear if the suspect was hit or not.
The suspect ditched his coat and sweatshirt, but he was captured on video.
Police are now asking anyone with information on the suspect to contact them at 1-800-COPSHOT.
