Joe Biden apparently has no plans to sit out the 2024 election.
By every indication, he will run, which means there will be no serious opposition and he will be the nominee.
Well, that goes against what 75 percent of Democrats want to see.
Say It Ain’t So, Joe
The latest Monmouth University Poll released on Monday did not reveal any good news for Biden at all.
A mere 25 percent of Democrat voters want to see Biden run again for president.
There is another problem, however.
Only 13 percent would support Kamala Harris as the candidate.
The Democrat bench is almost non-existent right now, so do they dust off a relic? Where do they go?
Monmouth University Polling Institute director Patrick Murray stated, “Democrats appear to be saying they like the job Biden has done, but maybe it’s time for him to move on when his term is up.
“However, no top tier of candidates emerges when these voters are asked to name a preferred alternative. Part of that could simply be the holding pattern that Democrats are in because Biden has signaled that he will, in fact, run.”
I would not even go that far, with less than 80 percent giving Biden an overall stamp of approval.
In any presidency, in-party approval is, at worst, in the upper 80s or low 90s.
Being under 80 percent is a major sign of trouble.
The situation is not much better for Trump.
While he is doing okay in primary polls, more than 60 percent of the country does not want to see him elected again.
If Trump gets the nomination, we may go from an election with record turnout to one with one of the lowest turnouts.
We have two candidates that the overwhelming majority of the country does not want to see in office.
