Over the terrified screams of Alejandro Mayorkas, top officials of the Border Patrol have been allowed to testify in Congress. On Tuesday, February 7, they’re educating the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability about the state of security along the Mexico line. Soon to be impeached Domestic Security Minister Mayorkas did his best to prevent them from talking, and lost.

Border Patrol officials take stand

The Border Patrol hearings are still in progress on Tuesday but all you really need to know about them is that they’re finally happening. Alejandro Mayorkas kicked, screamed and generally threw a fit. He didn’t want his underlings talking behind his back to Congress.

Especially because he knows the things they’re saying about him aren’t nice. In January, the committee’s chair, Kentucky conservative James Comer, “sent a letter to Mayorkas stating the committee would be investigating.

The oversight watchdogs are barking along the trail of government corruption by probing Joe Biden’s “creation of and failure to resolve the worst border crisis in American history.” Americans deserve answers, Comer insists, about Biden’s role undermining CBP efforts. They can’t even secure our nation from smugglers.

When Mayorkas got the notice calling four of his patrol agents in for testimony, he went into full panic mode and tried to block.

The four named witnesses are all agents overseeing southern border sectors. “Chiefs Jason Owens, Gregory Bovino, Gloria Chavez, and Acting Chief Patricia McGurk-Daniel.

Mayorkas tried to compromise by allowing two of those and denying the other two. That didn’t fly. Rep. Comer shot it down with threats of “compulsory process.” He can have them hauled in any time he wants, but he’s trying to be polite about it.

The worst offenses

After Mayorkas caved in to contempt of Congress threats, Comer told reporters that all four witnesses will be there to testify about “the worst offenses with respect to illegal border crossings.” The committee needs “to hear from people on the front lines.

In this hearing they want to ask BPD for “their advice on how Congress can help them do their jobs.” They’re also supposed to bring along some records to look at.

According to the letter dated January 19 with Comer’s initial request for testimony, he also wants Border Patrol to hand over “documents and copies of internal communications from DHS.

They’re especially interested in the DHS plan to “terminate the Migrant Protection Protocols.” That’s better known as “remain in Mexico.

Under Mayorkas blind “watch” there have been “historic numbers of illegal border crossings.” Comer wants to see the internal reports on all of them. Along with “retention rates, staffing, recruitment and morale.” The union has argued that Biden and Mayorkas are making the job unbearable.

More agents are retiring and recruitment and morale is at an all-time historic low.” The biggest slap in the face to Congress is the way Joe Biden just created a pathway to citizenship out of thin air. The whole parole program was sketchy to start with and Mayorkas clearly exceeded his authority. That will be the big basis for his impeachment.
