CNN Medical Analyst Has a Vaccine About Face

The same people that screamed obscenities about the unvaccinated are now allowed to speak a different tune without being shut down.  You’re not going to hear an apology though.  A so-called medical expert now says natural immunity works and curiously, those who are vaccinated and never had COVID are more susceptible.  Suddenly censored voices are allowed to speak.  Trust in this community needs rebuilding.

Medical professionals were silenced

Although it’s good to see this allowed in print via the Washington Post, the explanation for people being muted sounds more like saving face.

Leana Wen is an emergency doctor and a health policy professor at George Washington Milken Institute School of Public Health.  She was also a president of Planned Parenthood.  She’s now a medical analyst for CNN.

The medical profession has changed

On Dec. 9 she wrote an op-ed for the post about discontinuing vaccine mandates for the military and others.  She thought “businesses, universities, schools and other entities that were once justified in implementing these requirements should consider removing them, too.”

Wen naturally defended her original thoughts.  This was “when the coronavirus vaccines were first made available, there was a compelling case for requiring them.”  But doctor, there were other medical professionals that thought differently.  What’s wrong with second opinions and their explanations?

The Omicron variant changed her tune

Wen’s research showed the vaccines’ “effectiveness in reducing infection against the omicron subvariants is low and not lasting.”  There was a study in “Nature Communications” that said “effectiveness against infection was about 50 percent in the first three months after vaccination but declined to around 10 percent or below thereafter.”

The New England Journal of Medicine also backed down.  Researchers here noted “that there was no difference in infection rates between people who received two doses of the vaccine six months earlier and those who remained unvaccinated.”  If she’d published her piece about the vaccines’ effectiveness against Omicron earlier in the year it would have been censored.  Now it’s allowed.

This medical professional needed to watch it

Wen could still get in trouble from at least mRNA’s idol Dr. Fauci so she insisted public officials should be up front about this vaccine in comparison to more effective ones such as for polio. She wrote, “Young, healthy people, most of whom already had covid, are very unlikely to become severely ill, and there is little, if any, lasting difference between the vaccinated and unvaccinated people’s likelihood of infecting others.”

Wen published two articles, another on Dec. 18 that said, “Abundant research shows natural immunity conveys excellent protection against covid. One Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found that vaccinated people who never had covid were at least three times as likely to be infected as unvaccinated people with prior infection.”  A Lancet study said that, “that those who were vaccinated but never had covid were four times as likely to have severe illness resulting in hospitalization or death compared to the unvaccinated who recovered from it.”
