Woman Demands Changes To Rec Center, City’s Response Is EPIC

A Colorado woman was not exactly pleased with her city’s rec center, so she demanded they instantly change to accommodate her. The city had the best response to her demands. When personnel at the swimming pool saw her outfit, Ali was informed she would not be enabled to swim given that her clothing, which complied with her religion, didn’t fall in line with swimming pool guidelines.

According to Ali, when she took her household to swim at the Commerce City Recreation Center on a Sunday afternoon, she was rejected access to the swimming pool although she declares that she asked if she might rather use simply her t-shirt and trousers and eliminate the gown, however, rec center workers indicated pool guidelines mentioning “specified swimming attire only.”

The guidelines are not prejudiced, however rather, they are similarly imposed. The city is standing company, determined that the policies are in location for a factor and that others, who are not of the Islamic faith, have actually been turned away under the very same guidelines.

“The city routinely turns away people who don’t have appropriate swimwear – jean shorts, sport shorts, not wearing swim diapers,” said Commerce City spokesperson Michelle Halsted. “We turn all those individuals away because the number one focus for us is safety.”
