McConnell Leadership Challenger Surfaces

Now, I would like to say that I am hopeful that McConnell will be knocked out of his leadership role, but that is not the case here.

He will, however, be challenged by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL).

Even so, McConnell has already gone on the record stating that he has the votes he needs to keep his role.

Status Quo

Right now, McConnell and Scott are throwing daggers at each other over the outcome of the 2022 election.

McConnell is blaming Scott and a lack of quality candidates, but that argument goes out the window when you realize that John Fetterman was elected.

Scott is blasting McConnell for pulling ads from campaigns like Blake Masters, who got almost no support from the party during his election bid because of the feud between Trump and McConnell.

McConnell also spent about $40 million backing Lisa Murkowski who was head-to-head with another Republican simply because the other candidate was a Trump-backed candidate.

Scott, in making his case to the caucus, stated, “I’m writing to you today because I believe it’s time for the Senate Republican Conference to be far more bold and resolute than we have been in the past.

“We must start saying what we are for, not just what we are against.

“I do not believe we can simply continue to say the Democrats are radical, which they are.

“Republican voters expect and deserve to know our plan to promote and advance conservative values.”

We need change atop the party, yet a man with a seven percent approval rating is almost a lock to be re-elected to leadership.
