Amazon has devoted itself to funding the abortions of its staff members. The second-largest company in the U.S. informed its personnel that it will pay up to $4,000 each year in travel costs for “non-life-threatening medical treatments consisting of abortions.”
The average cost for a first-trimester abortion in the US is $650 – $750 according to the Guttmacher Institute, Second trimester abortions typically run an average of $1,200. This means that conceivably, Amazon employees could turn a profit from obtaining an abortion.
Reuters reported that Amazon’s choice to fund its workers’ abortions positions the online mega-retailer on a growing list of big corporations with comparable policies on the books. Citigroup Inc. and Yelp Inc. both revealed that they would fund the abortion procedure for their staff members in action to Republican-backed state laws restricting abortion gain access to.

Amazon hasn’t posted any public response to criticism of this policy.
