The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has rejected an appeal from Texas Governor Greg Abbot to declare a state of emergency at the border. This declaration would have allowed Texas to be reimbursed by the federal government for the millions of dollars it has been forced to spend on border security in the absence of sufficient action from the Biden administration. Border security is meant to be a federal responsibility.
FEMA refuses aid for Texas
Illegal immigration has reached new heights under the Biden administration and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Migrants in Central America and Haiti believe that the White House, now that Trump is out, will allow them to enter the country without serious repercussions.
So far these expectations have proven to be well founded. The White House has only halfheartedly attempted to slow down the flood of illegal immigrants at the southern border and many have simply been released within the United States after being apprehended.
The federal government is not overwhelmed by the number of illegals, it simply lacks the political will to crack down on illegal crossings and put a stop to the crisis. These are future Democratic voters, after all.
FEMA cannot endorse the actions taken by Texas on its own initiative because the White House views these actions more as a nuisance than as a helpful effort to secure the border.
Texas has deployed thousands of National Guard members and state police since Governor Abbot began his border security initiative in March.

Texans forced to pay for border security
The FEMA decision is a confirmation of an earlier refusal to provide federal aid to Texas. The state appealed that decision and has now been turned down for the second time.
Considering the fact that Haitian migrants have been seeing up third world shanty towns in Texas this would seem to have reached emergency status.
FEMA is forcing Texas taxpayers to fund their own border protection, a responsibility which should rest solely with the federal government.
By the end of 2021 illegal border crossings for the year may exceed two million. Only a small fraction of these migrants will be deported.
In fact, the Biden administration has routinely been freeing the sometimes violent Haitian migrants within the borders of the United States; most of this is taking place in Texas.
The White House has no interest in moving to do its job and the border and FEMA has made it clear that there will be no forthcoming federal aid so Texans will have to pay for all of this on their own.
