On Wednesday, a business jet that was en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg crashed, killing all 10 people on board.
Russian emergency officials have confirmed the tragedy and it has been reported that mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list but it is unknown if he was actually on board.
Russia’s civilian aviation regulator, Rosaviatsia, stated that Prigozhin was on the passenger list however, it remains uncertain whether or not he had boarded the flight at all.
The state news agency Tass reported that there were three pilots and seven passengers total aboard the plane when it crashed.
This tragic incident occurred in Russia’s Tver region more than 100 kilometers north of Moscow.
The Kremlin responded to this tragedy by stating that Prigozhin would be exiled to Belarus and his fighters would either retire, follow him there or join the Russian military forces instead.
It appears as though they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure nothing like this happens again in their country anytime soon.
It has been uncovered that Yevgeny Prigozhin is the founder of Wagner private military company which had fought alongside Russia’s regular army in Ukraine recently as well as a short-lived armed mutiny against Russian military leadership back at end of June this year.
This is a developing story with new details still coming in.
