The general belief is that if this GOP field remains crowded past South Carolina, the nomination will be Donald Trump’s.
The field grows by the day with people saying they want to beat Donald Trump, yet the more that in the field, the less chance the only person with any real shot to beat Trump has of winning.
That being the case, many pundits are now looking forward to who Trump will pick as VP.
The Top Choices
One of the big names being tossed around is Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).
Donald Trump loves her, but that is not the general feeling of conservatives.
Just remember, before Trump endorsed her, most of us were trying to run her out of the party as a RINO.
Another name coming up is Kari Lake, which I believe would be an absolute disaster.
The VP choice needs to attract a demographic the top name on the ticket is having a problem drawing in, and Lake and Trump have an almost identical base, so there is no real benefit to having her on the ticket.
Nikki Haley is a real possibility, with there being some conjecture that she will handle the attacking of DeSantis when things heat up and allow Trump to concentrate on his agenda. A VP nomination would be her reward.
That brings us to the two people that could actually make in impact, which are Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
Most would agree that while Tim Scott is loved, he jumped the gun by getting into this race.
However, if it gets him a VP nod and Trump manages to win the 2024 election, I believe that Scott would be a lock to win in 2028.
