You can thank Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan for the $11,000 machines dispensing free Narcan and crack pipes to city addicts. Just when you thought the streets of New York City couldn’t get any worse, they suddenly did.

Machines to enable addiction

The city of New York decided to provide machines dispensing anything an addict might need for comfort and survival. Since they can’t seem to beat their addiction crisis, they caved in completely. The Health Department will be happy to providefree Narcan and drug-test strips.” No questions asked.

You can also push a couple buttons and out pop crack pipes. Other choices are “condoms, tampons, nicotine gum, first-aid kits and even lip balm.” As New York Post observes, “start the countdown to the day free syringes get added.

The city actually believes that the machines “will slow or stop the surge in overdose deaths, along with other grim side-effects of deep addiction.

Sooner or later they’ll be forced to come down off whatever they’ve been smoking at the Health Department and realize what they’re really doing is normalizing drug abuse and feeding “the plague” by pretending there’s such a thing as “safe drug abuse.

It won’t be long, local pundits note, that addicts will soon be peddling condoms, nicotine gum and lip balm to support their habits at taxpayer expense.

The city shrugs off the criticism by pointing out that the “areas prioritized for the new $11,000 machines already host needle-exchange and safe-injection sites, methadone clinics, smoke shops (legal and illegal) and homeless shelters.

Degrading to the neighborhood

The neighborhoods which will be hosting the nifty new machines are “being further degraded by the progressive obsession with offering support systems for addicts.” Liberals like to call it “harm reduction.” Addicts who kicked the habit are horrified.

As Jared Klickstein recently wrote in an opinion article, “a growing element of the harm reduction movement now rejects treatment or abstinence-based recovery strategies.” He calls those things “essential to saving these souls.” The city gave up trying to save them and just want to make them more comfortable as they kill themselves with narcotics along city sidewalks.

Instead of Mayor Eric Adams lecturing Vasan on “broken windows” policies and the need for tough love, he chooses to back enabling the addicts.

Every one of the machines give him another problem he can ignore. He’s going nuts trying to figure out what to do with all the migrants which keep showing up by the busload.

It’s clear to residents of the big apple that the machines are a sign of the end times and they’re in for urban Armageddon. No matter how hard they try to stand up to “largely low-income areas being turned into drug-infested, chaotic turf unsafe for families and children,” the harder the city fights them.

The only solution is to “stop using public funds to enable abusers at cost of everyone else.” Since that’s hard to do in progressive run jurisdictions, the only choice conservative families have is to abandon the urban jungle and relocate somewhere more conservative.
