Donald Trump’s legal problems continue to mount.
It now appears as though he will be facing some sort of charges in the hush money that was paid to Stormy Daniels.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s offered Trump the opportunity to speak in front of the grand jury, which is generally a sign that charges are imminent.
Not Illegal, But Illegal
This is a shot in the foot in terms of the mess that was created.
Trump reportedly paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money leading into the 2016 election.
That is not illegal.
What is illegal is if the money was written off against the campaign, which is what appears to have happened.
The DA has also called in Michael Cohen, who was Trump’s “fixer” at the time.
Cohen has completely turned on Trump and is dying to see him indicted, so I would expect he will tell the DA whatever he wants to hear.
If Trump does get charged, it could all but end his campaign.
He is more or less running on fumes already, with all the big donors that supported him in 2016 and 2020 looking elsewhere.
Some have even stated that if Trump wins the nomination, they may vote for him, but they are not going to give him any money.
The situation for Trump seems to get worse with every passing day.
