As far as most Democrats are concerned (and some Republicans), Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is a menace.
The man has more legal problems than I can ever remember any Attorney General facing in this country, not to mention the more than a dozen lawsuits he is involved in against the Biden administration.
Well, bad news for Dems… he could soon be in Washington raising more hell.
Could Be the Guy
Through all of his legal problems, and there have been quite a few of them, Donald Trump has supported Paxton.
This is likely due to the fact that Paxton has relentlessly fought Biden at every turn when he tried to undo a Trump policy or loosen our immigration laws.
He has not been very successful, mind you, but he is relentless.
So, it was natural that Trump would be asked if he would consider Paxton as his AG.
Trump stated, “I would, actually.
“He’s very, very talented.
“I mean, we have a lot of people that want that one and will be very good at it. But he’s a very talented guy.”
Trump’s AG is going to have a target on his head from day one if Trump wins this election.
Let’s assume that Trump learned his lesson from 2016 by appointing someone as AG that was not on the same page as Trump regarding the Russian collusion investigation.
Then there was Bill Barr, an establishment Bush-era Republican who constantly clashed with Trump and wound up leaving over the election issues.
There are likely to be three cases pending against Trump if he wins this election, and I would expect Trump to tell his AG to dismiss the cases immediately, and I am sure Paxton would have no problem doing that.
But if he does, he better get a good attorney because if Democrats have the House, and there is a good chance they retake it in this election, they will immediately impeach Trump and his attorney general.
I would also suspect that Paxton would be on a mission to take down Joe Biden, much the same way that Garland has unleashed the DOJ on Trump.
So, dig in, folks, because if Paxton gets the nod, this four-year ride will be far more wild than any of us ever imagined.
