I am not a musician or a singer, but if I were I would want to try to appeal to as broad of a range of people as humanly possible. Because it’s not like you exactly have a limited potential customer base when it comes to music.
I mean, the field of potential buyers is only limited to people on the planet with at least one working ear. Now, styles of music I get.
People create music based on their life experiences so it is more than perfectly normal that someone from a farming town in Alabama might conjure up different musical offerings than someone who grew up in New York City.
That being said, every musician should at least be open to someone available to listen to what they are releasing to be able to do it. If someone wants to listen to your song, you should be happy and grateful for that person.
This brings me to some of the more manic liberal performers that have come along the pike in recent years. It used to be that you didn’t know all too much about a performer’s political views.
If you did, it was usually something relatively minor and if it was something big, they knew to keep it to themselves lest they alienate half their potential customer base.
Take this Lizzo for example. She’s been in the news a lot lately, one of the reasons she’s a big girl that likes to wear very little. Recently in a magazine interview, she said something that if you were the head of a record label it would make your heart skip several beats.
This round mound of sound said that she doesn’t make music for white people. Apparently, every other race on this planet is alright if they want to buy the new Lizzo album or go to one of her concerts. However, those of us that have a paler complexion are unwelcome in the eyes of this ultra-liberal entertainer.
In the interview, she said that she is making music based on her experience as a black woman. Now, that’s all well and good; but that shouldn’t preclude you from encouraging people to buy your albums.
I thought the whole point of this woke crap, at least according to liberals was to educate us white folks on what it’s like to be black.
Which sounds like it is a huge flaw in her logic and the logic of a lot of liberals. You want to educate white people on what it’s like to be black, yet you don’t want to make it so that white people can buy your music.
Seems pretty damn counterproductive to me.
