The thought of a parent having to bury their child is crushing.

This is especially the case when the child is still relatively young, successful, and has an amazing future ahead of them.

That is the case of Dana Carvey, the former SNL star, who now has to bury his son, Dex, who was only 32.

Just Gone

Sadly, this is an all too familiar tale of a drug overdose.

Carvey confirmed the death of his on social media.

He posted, “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years.

“He was extremely talented at so many things–music, art, film making, comedy–and pursued all of them passionately.

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life.

“And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun.

“But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.

“Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.”

Carvey, who is 68, was landing bit parts until he was added to the case of “Saturday Night Live.”

From that point on, his career was on a rocket of sorts, landing leading roles as well as plenty of supporting roles in various other movies from SNL cast members.

Carvey even won an Emmy in 1993 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.
