You would think a hospital is one of the only places you could feel safe and cared for, but sadly this shocking new revelation proves that theory incorrect. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center is now facing a massive lawsuit from a group of 58 male victims who allege that the hospital system shrouded years of abuse by former urologist Dr. Darius Paduch.
As more and more alleged victims come forward with claims about Paduch’s inappropriate behavior between 2003 and 2022, it is becoming increasingly clear that this is an issue that requires serious investigation.
The lawsuit states that Paduch pretended to practice medicine while instead engaging in “a career of racketeering, sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, and sex-trafficking of both minors and adults”.
Furthermore, he was allegedly using his esteemed position to “sexually groom” his patients before committing various acts of physical and verbal assault on them. In addition to these disturbing allegations, Paduch has also been accused of overprescribing opioids to make his patients dependent on him over time.
Incredibly, according to the lawsuit, the defendants – including NY-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center – were aware of what was going on since early on but chose not to take any action against Dr. Paduch until it was too late.
What’s worse is that when victims came forward with their complaints the hospital board allegedly attempted to buy their silence rather than help them seek justice for what they had suffered through no fault of their own.
Dr Robert Hadden – another OBGYN from Columbia NY Presbyterian – has already been sentenced to 20 years in prison for enticing four different victims into travelling between states for sexual activity purposes earlier this year.
It seems as though Evelyn Yang – wife of former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang – was one of the first people who spoke out about her experience with Hadden which encouraged dozens more women to follow suit in doing so as well.
