One of the countless mysteries of the world is the topic of time travel; many believe this concept is real while others are skeptical and cast doubt on if it’s even possible. And while there are multiple people who have allegedly come forward claiming to have travelled through time and offering their experiences, this one photo from the 1940s could arguably serve as the best piece of evidence we have yet for proof.
The photograph was taken back in September 1943 and shows British war workers escaping to the seaside. When some zoomed in closely they noticed something strange – there appeared to be a man standing in the center of the image wearing a suit and peering down at something in his hands.
At first glance, it looks like he may be holding a mobile phone – an item that wasn’t invented until the 1980s.
Could it really be true that this man is using technology from our future? And could this one photograph prove that time travel is actually possible?
We can all agree that this vintage photograph is definitely peculiar. It raises questions like how did this man acquire such modern-day technology before its invention or why would someone take such an object with them to the beach?
While these questions remain unanswered, what we do know is that after Stuart Humphryes shared it on Twitter, many began analyzing the photo trying to either prove or disprove its authenticity.
Naturally when news of this extraordinary find spread people had mixed reactions ranging from disbelief to excitement. One twitter user asked “This man seems to be texting. Is he a time traveller?” while another joked “Good catch. Clearly the man in the shot is a time travelling tourist checking his mobile device.”
On the other hand some were more skeptical as one person commented “Maybe he’s winding his watch,” while another suggested “I’m guessing he is checking his pocket watch.” Lastly one person focused less on whether or not it was proof of time travel but instead noted “Forget the call phone…this guy is on the beach in a suit!”
While we may never know for sure if this particular photo proves once and for all that time travel exists or not, it certainly has gotten us thinking and talking about what possibilities exist outside our own realm of reality.
