Well-loved Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has been a major force in the entertainment industry for decades now. Throughout the years, he has really made a name for himself, gaining notoriety as both a musician and actor. However, now he’s recently opened up about his plans to step away from acting…something that’s leaving many fans shocked.
Born on June 5th 1971, Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg is an American actor, producer, businessman and former rapper.
He rose to fame as frontman of the hip hop group “Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch” with hits like “Good Vibrations” before transitioning into acting roles such as Boogie Nights (1997), Three Kings (1999), The Departed (2006) amongst many others.

When asked what pushed him into producing so early on in his career he told Cigar Aficionado that it was simply out of necessity, he didn’t want to wait around for other established actors at the time such as Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise to pass on roles that were meant for him.
So instead he decided to take matters into his own hands by creating vehicles and opportunities for himself while also reaping the rewards or bearing the brunt of failure when necessary.
One of Wahlberg’s most famous roles was as Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights (1997).
At first, he wasn’t sure about taking on such a controversial role because it seemed exploitative after coming off of his “Marky Mark” era where he was known for pulling down his pants and modeling Calvin Klein underwear.
But after reading the script further, he realized what an incredible opportunity this was and how much potential it had.
Despite plans to slowly step away from acting, Wahlberg still wants to remain involved in some way whether that’s collaborating with other talents or working behind-the-scenes on projects.
It’s clear that Mark Wahlberg will remain an important figure within Hollywood even if his focus shifts more towards producing instead of acting.
