President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign has recently cut ties with the infamous election lawyer, Marc Elias, who is known for helping to orchestrate the Russia collusion hoax and filing lawsuits that may have played a role in Biden’s 2020 win.

The main differences between Elias and Bob Bauer, another lawyer on Biden’s team, are style and strategy-related.

However, what has been left out of this discussion is the fact that Elias’ past activities have been highly controversial.

Marc Elias has long been notorious for challenging election results—the most notable example being Al Franken’s 2008 victory over incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman.

This race gave Democrats a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

In addition to his legal work, he often appears as a guest on MSNBC to criticize Republicans who challenge election outcomes.

In 2017,  it was revealed that while working at Perkins Coie law firm – an organization aligned with the Democratic Party – Elias had hired Fusion GPS to compile the now-infamous Russia dossier on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the DNC.

This sparked an FBI investigation which quickly turned into wild media speculation about overturning Trump’s 2016 win – although none of these claims were ever proven true.

Following this revelation, he became a key witness in Michael Sussmann’s trial.

During his testimony he admitted that he had complete control over Fusion GPS’ activities however, Sussmann was acquitted by a DC jury due to “jury nullification”.

In 2020 Marc Elias was heavily involved in Democratic efforts to change voting laws in order to support universal vote-by-mail during the pandemic – something they had begun trying before but accelerated under Covid 19 circumstances.

He also led legal challenges when Democrats lost certain races and even went so far as claiming once that voting machines were responsible for their loss.

For this reason he was sanctioned by the Fifth Circuit Court after filing almost identical motions twice despite being instructed not to do so; part of his penalty included taking courses in legal ethics.
