It is a sad day for professional wrestling fans.
Darren Drozdov, professionally known as Droz, has passed away.
He was only 54 years old.
Sad Day
Droz, if you recall, suffered a horrible in-ring accident.
He quickly became a fan favorite after making his debut in 1998.
Unfortunately, his rising star was snuffed out in October 1999 due to improperly executed powerbomb move by D’Lo Brown.
Droz was wearing a loose-fitting shirt during the match, a new addition to his in-ring garb, and Brown was unable to get a solid grip on him while trying to execute the move.
Droz ended up landing on his hand, fracturing two vertebrae in his neck, leaving him paralyzed.
The WWE released this statement…

Regarding the botched move, both wrestlers stated after the fact it was an accident, with Droz holding no ill-will toward D’Lo Brown for what happened.
According to Droz’s family, he died of natural causes and Droz would not want anyone to be sad for him during this time.
The family stated, “He would not want anyone to be sad at this moment and would want to this to be a celebration of his life, to be remembered for all the great things that he accomplished, the fun, the laughter, the great memories he shared with everyone.”
