How many of you spent your Saturday morning in front of the TV watching wrestling?
If you grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, you surely remember The Bushwhackers.
Sadly, Buckwhacker Butch, whose real name is Bob Miller, has passed away.
He was 78 years old.
Sad Day
His former partner, Bushwhacker Luke, announced the death.
He stated, “This past weekend in Los Angeles, Bob flew in from New Zealand to join me for Wrestlemania weekend and the related festivities, neither of us knowing it would be our last days together and his last days of life.
“If you were to read the story of my life it would say that I am only child, but it would be wrong.
“In life I had a brother and his name was Bob Miller.
“I love you, Bob. Until I see you again, WOOOOAHH YEEEEAAHH.”
Bob and Luke started wrestling together in the 1964, then entered the WWF in 1988 (the WWF later became the WWE).
Their antics made them a fan favorite, but a neck injury to Luke prevented the team from ever capturing the tag team title.
They left the WWE in 1996 to wrestle on other circuits, then retired altogether in 2021 after another neck injury to Luke.
To think that these guys were still dropping in off the top rope in their 60s and 70s is utterly amazing.
Rest in peace, Bushwhacker Butch, and thanks for the years of entertainment.
