House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) is in a high-stakes game of chicken with Joe Biden and Democrats.
McCarthy is willing to elevate the debt ceiling as long as Biden decreases future spending.
Biden does not want to negotiate on the debt ceiling, which means if he does not budge, the economy crashes.
And it would not just be our economy, but the world economy.
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is blinking, telling McCarthy to remember the American public in his stance.
Stay the Course
Scott seems to be backing off the hardline stance of making Biden cut back spending to get the debt ceiling lowered.
He is still recommending that the spending be tapered, but he wants to change the message that he is delivering.
Scott stated, “He’s got to talk about what he’s trying to do for the American public.
“This is not for you or me — I mean, except as citizens — it’s for every American.
“We’ve got to balance the budget, live within our means, get this inflation under control.”
I would disagree just a bit, in that he needs to make the American people aware of what Joe Biden is doing to them.
Biden’s current budget is an increase over the last budget, which included COVID spending.
This man is out of control, dooming generations to pay off the debt he continues to rack up.
McCarthy needs to hold firm and get Biden to back down off his stance because if he does not, we are doomed either way.
