Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) just vowed to end one of the biggest problems we have in Congress.
That would be omnibus spending bills.
If he holds firm, this will provide Americans with much more transparency in our government.
Huge Deal
I have always maintained that is one of the biggest problems we face in our government today.
When these large bills get introduced, they are often done so at the last minute.
They also happen to be thousands of pages, where all kinds of pet projects can be hidden.
For instance, in Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, the bill was 4,155 pages long, and proxy voting was allowed.
Members did not even have 24 hours to review the bill.
If McCarthy delivers on this, it means single issue legislation.
One bill, one issue, with all spending clearly laid out for the American people to see.
McCarthy stated, “One thing you gotta know on principle too: we’re not taking up an omnibus.
“It’s not going to happen.
“We gotta get back to doing the work that the American people expect us to do.”
