The first casualty of the 2024 election season has been announced.

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) is leaving office.

Initially, she was expected to run for the Senate, but she has decided to step always altogether.

Not Getting Along

There was a bit of friction this time around for Spartz.

During the election for Speaker of the House, she flipped her vote from yes to present at one point, but she eventually went back to supporting McCarthy.

The friction comes in regarding the removal of Rep. Omar (D-MN) from her committee assignment.

Spartz was among a handful of Republicans that were against her removal, not wanting to take part in tit-for-tat politics.

She appears tired of the game, and has decided to step away.

In announcing her retirement from Congress, she stated, “It’s been my honor representing Hoosiers in the Indiana State Senate and U.S. Congress and I appreciate the strong support on the ground.

“2024 will mark seven years of holding elected office and over a decade in Republican politics.

“I won a lot of tough battles for the people and will work hard to win a few more in the next two years.

“However, being a working mom is tough and I need to spend more time with my two high school girls back home, so I will not run for any office in 2024.”

With how things are going already, I would imagine there will be a handful of expected resignations that take place on both sides before the election season rally kicks in.
