Things didn’t turn out the way police hoped when they made the decision to burn over three tons of cannabis in Indonesia.
But by the time they realized that they hadn’t thought things all the way through, it was far too late.
For a country that is incredibly tough on drugs, it came as quite a shock to learn that Palmerah police accidentally got an entire town high after burning over three tons worth of confiscated cannabis outside of their office.
Breitbart reported the haul to be worth over $1 million.
Tangerang police chief Senior Commander Riad revealed that the stash had been collected in earlier raids in Serpong, South Tangerang.
The police officers anticipated that the fumes created by the fire would be powerful and therefore prepared masks.
However, sadly they didn’t consider the entire area around the burning drug fire.
None of the watching locals were informed of the fire, leaving them exposed to the fumes.
Daily Mail reported how one journalist had to “sit down and have a cup of tea” to deal with the effects of the cannabis.
“I got a headache because I wasn’t wearing a mask,” a resident named Deden added.
Thankfully, symptoms wore off within a few hours of the fire, with no residual effects.
What’s more amusing though is that this isn’t the first time something similar has happened.
There are multiple clips of reporters attempting to cover similar events since fire is a typically used method for disposing of drugs.
