Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has decided to pick a fight with Donald Trump.
Trump supporters are probably not going to be happy about it.
I know for sure that Trump will not be happy about it.
But here is the thing… Cruz is right.
Cut the Checks
The subject of Trump hoarding PAC money has come up before.
Correction, he is not hoarding it, but instead spending most of the money on his legal bills.
The Save America PAC was the flushest GOP PAC at one point, boasting a war chest of about $250 million.
It still has about $100 million in the bank, but Trump is not cutting checks for candidates.
Some Trump allies did start another PAC specifically to boost campaigns, but that does not take away from the fact that Trump took $250 million out of play.
Cruz addressed this during a recent podcast…

The other kicker here is that when the emails went out, they solicited money to support candidates and fight the Democrats.
Some of the money went for rallies, and some paid for staff, but the lion’s share of the cash has gone to pay Trump’s legal bills, and I would bet that most people were unaware of that.
Most of the candidates in the tightest races are Trump-backed candidates, and Save America PAC is not supporting them.
If they lose, and the GOP loses the majority in the Senate, this is where people are going to look first.
Even if they win, this is a question that Trump needs to answer if he expects to run again and have people support his campaign.
Are we buying ads or are we paying for attorneys?
