Trump-backed Candidate LOSES Special Election

Donald Trump is taking another hit today.

Sarah Palin lost her special election to take the seat of Rep. Don Young (R-AK).

Young passed away earlier this year after anchoring that seat for years.

Bad Sign

This is not a good sign for the general election in November.

Mary Peltola defeated Palin, and will likely do so again in the general election.

Peltola is Yup’ik Eskimo, the first native Alaskan to hold a congressional seat.

She stated, “I’m honored and humbled by the support I have received from across Alaska.

“I look forward to continuing Don Young’s legacy of bipartisanship, serving all Alaskans and building support for Alaska’s interests in DC.”

Alaska now uses the ranked-choice system for voting, so this was a big test for the upcoming November election.

The big problem for Palin is that three candidates qualified, and the other candidate is also a Republican.

The two of them are splitting the vote right now, which will more than likely hand Peltola the win again in November unless she manages to completely screw the pooch in three months.

The only solace here for Palin is if Peltola does not reach the 50 percent threshold after the first vote.

If that happens, one candidate will be eliminated, and the second choice on those ballots, which we assume would be Palin in most cases, is awarded the vote (if I understand Alaska’s process correctly).
