It’s great that he continues. Like Trump surprising everybody, maybe Mr. Cruz will punch through one day. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and human beings are weak. Once a human acquires power they’re loathe to let it go. Sen. Ted Cruz is reintroducing an amendment for term limits on Congress. A couple Republicans have joined in the effort: Mike Braun (IN), Marco Rubio (FL), Rick Scott (FL), Pat Toomey (PA.) and Todd Young (IN).
Sen. Cruz understands the need
He’s been in office since 2013, long enough to have seen the damage caused by the incestuousness of government. Cruz explained, “the amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms.”
This isn’t the first time he’s attempted this. With power hungry Democrats in office his effort just went that much more uphill.
Here’s something I don’t say often: on this point, I AGREE with @AOC Indeed, I have long called for a LIFETIME BAN on former Members of Congress becoming lobbyists. The Swamp would hate it, but perhaps a chance for some bipartisan cooperation? https://t.co/jPW0xkH2Yy

Cruz scores a C for consistency
The past four years he’s tried this a couple times. In 2016 Sen. Cruz teamed with Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) writing an op-ed in the Washington Post announcing his intentions.
In 2017 he initiated an amendment to the constitution requiring term limits for the 115th Congress. In 2019 he lead a hearing titled, “Keeping Congress Accountable: Term Limits in the United States” in an effort to break the cycle of career politicians and holding people accountable. Sen. Cruz and Francis Rooney (R-FL) again attempted the amendment for term limits to the 116th Congress.
Cruz actually agreed with AOC
She didn’t think it was smart to have those who had retired from office turn around and become lobbyists. She sounds like a conservative in that view because a lot of people probably feel the same way.
The Senator replied to one of her tweets. “Here’s something I don’t say often: on this point, I AGREE with @AOC, Indeed, I have long called for a LIFETIME BAN on former Members of Congress becoming lobbyists. The Swamp would hate it, but perhaps a chance for some bipartisan cooperation?”
