The idea that the missing Titanic tourist submarine would be found is now just about gone.
There have been considerable revelations over the last 48 hours that make it sound like a lot of doom and gloom.
As you are reading this, if the submarine is still intact, the oxygen situation is just about depleted.
Desperate Times
The estimated oxygen supply for the submarine would have run out early Thursday morning.
The vessel submerged early Sunday morning, then was reported missing less than two hours later.
It is still a complete mystery as to what happened after that first two hours.
On the submarine were Pakistani British-based businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Sulaiman Dawood, French submersible pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and chief executive and founder of OceanGate Expeditions, Stockton Rush.
Late Wednesday night and early Thursday, there were reports of debris on the ocean floor around the area where the submarine was expected to be.
Since the first reports, the Coast Guard has confirmed that some of the debris does appear to be from the vessel in question.
If that is the case, officials now fear all life is lost and there is little if any hope that anyone would be found alive.
Rear Admiral in charge of the search, John Mauger, of the US Coast Guard, is still keeping the search active, however.
He stated, “This is still an active search and rescue at this point and we’re using the equipment that we have on the bottom right now, the remote operated vehicles to expand our search capability, and then also to provide rescue capability as well.”
