With the rise of restaurants like Twin Peaks and bikini baristas popping up all over the country, Hooters had to adapt or die.
After the chain tried to adapt by changing up its uniform, it was forced to walk back the new uniform and offer the girls a choice.
Time for Change
I can still remember when Hooters launched about four decades ago, creating a nationwide buzz over the Florida restaurant that had girls in tight tops and boy shorts serving food.
Over the years, those shorts crept up a little bit more and those tops got a bit tighter.
Recently, hooters decided to update the bottoms that look more like a bikini bottom…
From what I read online, the reviews were about 50-50 from servers, with the negative being pretty consistent.
One worker posted, “Love my job but don’t love wearing undies to work.”
Hooters eventually caved, offering the girls the ability to choose between the new cut and the old cut.
A Hooters spokesperson stated, “As we continue to listen and update the image of the Hooters Girls, we are clarifying that they have the option to choose from traditional uniforms or the new ones.
“They can determine which style of shorts best fits their body style and personal image.”
