We are quickly approaching the two-year anniversary of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
You remember when Joe Biden promised boots would be on the ground until the last American was evacuated?
Well, Secretary of State Andrew Blinken just admitted that there are still about 175 Americans still left behind in Afghanistan.
Nobody Holds Joe Accountable
When Joe Biden pulled out of Afghanistan and left American citizens on the ground, I could not believe it. I don’t think any of us could.
What was even more remarkable was that the media just let the story blow over after only a few days.
It will be two years in May (the withdrawal was “completed” in August), and the story barely registered on the radar, but that needs to change.
Secretary Blinken was on the Hill last week and testified that there are still about 175 Americans being held by the Taliban.
He stated, “There are several Americans who are being detained by the Taliban.
“We are working to secure their freedom.
“The families have asked that we protect their identities and don’t speak publicly to their cases.”
Notice how he did not immediately give up the number, but Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) kept pressing him on the number.
Blinken finally responded, “As we speak, American citizens who identified themselves to us who are in Afghanistan — some of whom have been there since the withdrawal, some of whom went back to Afghanistan — there are about, that we’re in contact with, about 175.
“Forty-four of them are ready to leave, and we are working to effectuate their departure.”
You could almost hear the jaws hitting the ground when he said it.
They must be held accountable for this… the man left Americans behind enemy lines, citizens, not soldiers, for almost two years.
How is there not a simple demand… return them now or we wipe you off the face of the planet. End of negotiation.
