The city of Austin, Texas, has descended into lawless anarchy. You can blame woke Democrat administrators, who chose to defund their police. Recently, local youth took over an intersection, terrorizing residents simply for the fun of it. Neighborhood freaks call that a “side show” and it shows how much of a circus residents are in for, thanks to progressive town clowns. Former Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk warned the mayor and city council earlier this month and was promptly fired for it.
No police says yes to anarchy
If you don’t have enforcement you don’t have law, which is the very definition of “anarchy.” Wake up, Spencer Cronk tried to warn woke Mayor Kirk Watson and the Austin City Council. His job was to manage the city and that included its police force. Not anymore. He dared to explain the realities of life, so they fired him.
He warned the city that they needed to lock their cops into a four-year contract. The one-year contract the city wanted, and now has, was like a month-to-month rental. It brings nothing but transients. It takes a year or longer to train them properly. In Austin, by then they’re smart enough to go someplace where they’re more welcome.
As soon as word was out that negotiations had broken down with the police union, who refused to bother negotiating a single year contract, local “car clubs” commandeered “intersections throughout downtown Austin.”

Carelessly “drifting in the middle of the street and setting off fireworks as crowds looked on at the chaos.” That used to be called anarchy. “Several onlookers were reportedly set on fire during the mayhem.” There weren’t enough cops around to do anything about it and those were seriously outnumbered.
One police officer was hit with rocks and bottles in the “mayhem” as barbarians “climbed on top of two sheriff’s patrol cruisers, using traffic signs to shatter the windows.” The anarchy raged so fiercely that “it took officers 22 minutes to respond to 911 calls by scared citizens.” The reason, “due to no units nearby.”
Right now, the Austin Police Department is “understaffed by about 200 officers.” A spokesperson for the union blamed the entire incident “on Austin policymakers who have failed to make the right decisions and continue to defund, destroy and demoralize public safety.”

Mayor offended by remarks
Mayor Watson is throwing a snit. He lashed out at the police union for making “false comments” that “wrongly conflate this illegal incident with important community conversations about safety and oversight.”
Anarchy is what happens whenever nobody is around to enforce the law. That results in do-it-yourself “vigilante” justice.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the city council “will vote this week on an ordinance.” One to “establish the authority of the Office of the Police Oversight as an investigator as permitted by state law.” They want to handcuff their cops even more. If the job wasn’t hard enough, now they’re getting rocks in their shoes.

“This option will allow for investigations of anonymous complaints by citizens and police officers.” Thieves and carjackers love the new state of government sponsored anarchy. They can have special sideshow events for stolen Kia’s.
The chief of police also tried to stop the anarchy, insisting on the four year contract. He told them that the “stability of a long-term contract is very important to achieving his recruitment and retention goals” and was ignored.
Under the four-year plan, they would have hired “400 additional officers by the end of 2025.” Every cop would also end up with a 14% raise. Local drug dealers were infuriated. The mayor and all the council members were afraid to lose their votes so killed the whole concept. They should change their sign. Welcome to Anarchy, Texas.
