There was another mass shooting over the weekend.
Of course, Joe Biden did his best to turn this into a political attack against the GOP.
Governor Ron DeSantis, however, responded and tried to keep the damage to a minimum.
Can Count on Joe
The incident happened in Jacksonville, FL.
The shooter was identified as Ryan Palmeter, 21.
Palmeter left a manifesto and suicide note behind, making it pretty clear that he was whacked out of his mind.
The attack was carried out near an HBCU, at a Dollar General that is in a predominantly black neighborhood, and all of the victims were black.
Biden stated, “We must refuse to live in a country where Black families going to the store or Black students going to school live in fear of being gunned down because of the color of their skin.
“Hate must have no safe harbor. Silence is complicity and we must not remain silent. Jill and I are praying for the victims and their families, and we grieve with the people of Jacksonville.”
He added, “On Saturday, our nation marked the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington — a seminal moment in our history and in our work towards equal opportunity for all Americans.
“But this day of remembrance and commemoration ended with yet another American community wounded by an act of gun violence, reportedly fueled by hate-filled animus and carried out with two firearms.”
Ron DeSantis was also quick to decry the shooting as a racially motivated attack, vowing, “We will not allow HBCUs to be targeted.”
