Mike Pence is no longer staying silent.
To this point, he has protected Trump as much as he could.
Trump has fired off some shots at him lately, so Pence is now taking off the gloves.
Let’s Dance
Pence was attending the Gridiron Dinner in Washington when he dropped the gloves.
He stated, “President Trump was wrong.
“I had no right to overturn the election.”
Pence then stated that Trump’s “reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable.”
That is about as “tough” as Pence will get, as throwing mud is not really his game, but Trump has forced his hand.
Plus, it is a far different mood in the room than it was two years ago when more people were sympathetic to Trump.
The problem for Trump is that he is and will continue to take incoming from every person in the field, while most of them will go unscathed other than attacks by Trump.
They all know that Trump is at the top of the mountain and quite frankly, many of them do not like him any longer.
If Trump ever does drop out, I would expect a fairly civil primary race with full support being thrown behind whoever it is that wins this race.
