This weekend, some history was made.
For only the second time in the last century there was a wedding at the White House.
In the past, it was a major media event, but not this time.
Biden shut out the media, refusing to let even one outlet through the doors to cover his granddaughter’s wedding.
It is not Joe’s house, but he thinks it is.
He is only living there, but we pay the rent.
For that very reason, when major affairs are held at the White House, the media is permitted to cover them.
That was not the case this time, and the media was outraged.
The White House Correspondents’ Association stated, “White House weddings have been covered by the press throughout history and the first family’s wish for privacy must be balanced against the public’s interest in an event occurring at the People’s House with the President as a participant.”
The WHCA even tried to negotiate a small contingency of journalists so they would not be in the way of the event and turn it into a media circus, but they were declined.
“The WHCA advocated for allowing a small pool of journalists to cover some portion of the wedding.
“Our request for coverage was declined and we are deeply disappointed that the White House has chosen to keep this event fully closed to the press.”
This is the first wedding at the White House since 1971.
Joe Biden has been making an enemy of the media for months now, and did not do himself any favors by banning them from this event.
I am sure he will pay a dear price for it.
