The Co-Founder of the Black Lives Matter Movement, Patrisse Cullors, is upset some Democrats still haven’t endorsed at least defunding the police. Law enforcement still needs to be cut back, dismantled or eliminated somehow. There’s a lot the BLM movement is demanding, including reparations. They’re in it for the long haul too. There may be coercion, blackmailing, bribery and even death threats to “convince” DNC members to go along.
Democrats have met their match
“Without the sea changes our movement recommended for the 2020 Democratic platform, any claims to allyship and solidarity with our work to fight for Black liberation are for naught,” Cullors told the committee. “Without making the necessary recommitments and revisions, can any of you here truly stand up and say, ‘My party is the party of principles?”
Cullors is pushing an agenda called “The Breathe Act” that includes complete defunding of police, Drug Enforcement Agency, ICE and many prison programs. Life sentences should be ended, federal prisons closed, borders opened and police removed from schools.
This has gone right over Nancy and AOC’s head.
The Democrats haven’t responded favorably. It wasn’t brought up for a vote.
“In a call after her remarks, Cullors had proposed ‘about 10′ amendments spanning criminal justice, reforms to the legal system, policing, education, the environment, and reparations. All of her amendments were rejected without a vote.”
The Democrats are showing their double standard
Accidentally in a way they weren’t expecting it. They’re supposedly the party of equality and inclusion. They’ve just found the need for a standard where for years standards were rejected. Democrats are all for anarchy as long as it isn’t in their backyard.
Sen. Bernie Sanders’ party wouldn’t vote for the document unless Sanders’ “Medicare for All” program was included.
Cullors emphasized this isn’t short term. “Even if we get Trump out in November we will still be having this same conversation about police violence with Biden in office.”
